The Thorn

Child Audition Form

THE THORN is seeking 2 highly expressive child actors (7-12) for its upcoming national tours.  The Thorn is an innovative, theater experience that pairs dance, stunts, acrobatics, aerial arts and special effects alongside traditional stagecraft to tell the epic story of Jesus.

With the narrative unfolding in this way, all roles are non-speaking. It is essential for actors to be Highly Expressive. The emotional journey that each character takes must be rich, emotional and specific as it is conveyed visually—transcending the use of dialogue.

The child performers cast in this show travel with an accompanying parent. This application is intended to be filled out by the "accompanying parent" with input from the applying child.

Available Roles:

  • BOY: (9–12 years old. All ethnicities) Ensemble role that plays a variety of children in the story including: Pharaoh's son, Young Jesus, Pilate's Cupbearer, and Blind Boy. Blind Boy is the most re-occurring role in this track. He is an excitable and expressive child who forms a fierce attachment to Jesus after he is healed by him.
  • GIRL: (7-9 years old. All ethnicities) Ensemble role that plays a variety of children in the story including: Mary's Little Sister, a Roman Slave, a scared Jewish girl, and Dead Girl. Dead Girl is the most re-occurring role in this track. She is a very small child whom Jesus brings back from the dead. Must feel comfortable being lifted 6-7 feet in the air for this moment.

PLEASE FILL OUT the information below to submit your child (or children) for consideration to THE THORN. If you are applying for two children (siblings), please only submit 1 application. You can answer each question for both children.

If you are selected for a Callback based on this submission, we may ask for specific video material.

If you are applying as a performer over 18, DO NOT submit on this form.  Please navigate back to the casting page and chose one of our adult audition applications.
