Actors Audition Form

THE THORN is seeking highly expressive actors (20-45) for the upcoming National Tour. The Thorn is an innovative, theater experience that pairs dance, stunts, acrobatics, aerial arts and special effects alongside traditional stagecraft to tell the epic story of Jesus.

With the narrative unfolding in this way, all roles are non-speaking. It is essential for actors to be Highly Expressive. The emotional journey that each character takes must be rich, emotional and specific as it is conveyed visually—transcending the use of dialogue

Open Character Roles include:

JESUS:

(Late 20s–30s. Middle Eastern, Latino, Black, Non-white) Tall, strong and compassionate. He exudes the friendliness of a loving older brother but also the weight of deep sorrow without saying a word. Must be bearded and have long hair.

MAXIMUS:

(Late 30s–40s. All ethnicities) Strong and imposing. He commands the legion of Roman soldiers in Judea. He is tasked personally with flogging and crucifixion of Jesus. Stunt and stage combat experience is a plus.

PETER:

(20-30s. All ethnicities) Rough and tumble fisherman, turned disciple. He is animated and impulsive wearing his heart in his sleeve no matter the circumstance.

CAIAPHAS:

(50s-60s. All Ethnicities) Heavily bearded older man. He is pompous and often outraged with Jesus
